Woodworth – The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, on Thursday, October 11, 2018, of John William Woodworth, of Summerside, age 80 years. John was born in Moser River, NS, the son of the late Charles and Bertha (Holman) Woodworth. He leaves behind his loving wife, Arlene (Reeves) Woodworth, of 58 years; his two children Pamela (Paul) Baglole and Barry (Rosemary) Woodworth; four special grandchildren Christopher Baglole, Charla Baglole (Colin Rogers), Hannah Woodworth and Noah Woodworth; a sister Shirley (Gary) Scrivens; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean (Ira, deceased) Campbell, Noreen (Dallas, deceased) Reeves, Faye (Garth) Toombs, Lorna (Ray, deceased) MacKinnon and Carol (Carl) Pauptit; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Evelyn, in infancy; and by parents-in-law T. Alfred and Florence Reeves. Over the years, John was very active in many organizations: Life Member and Past President of the PEI Chapter of The Telephone Pioneers and Life Member and Past President of the Summerside Lions Club. John received the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honor in Lionism. He was also a former member of the Summerside Fire Department and a dedicated member of Trinity United Church, Summerside. Special thanks to Doctors Sharif and Azim; Staff of the Oncology Unit of the Moncton Hospital; Doctor "Ash" of the Charlottetown Cancer Clinic; Doctors and Nurses of the Prince County Hospital Oncology, Medical Palliative Care; and the Staff of Home Care and Support.  Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Tuesday, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside, for funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Monday from 4-7 p.m. Members of the Summerside Lions Club will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Oncology Unit and Medical Palliative Care Unit of the Prince County Hospital or the Trinity United Church would be appreciated.
