Beaton – It is with deepest sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Sterling "Gus" Beaton, of Summerside, PE, aged 81 years.  His death occurred at his late residence, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He was the son of the late Lorne and Mabel Beaton.

Sterling loved to spend countless hours in his spectacular garden, and anxiously waited for his weekly poker game with his buddies. 

Survived by his step-children, Raymond (Donna) Gillis, Cold Lake, AB; James (Barbara) Gillis, Dartmouth, NS; and Darren (Leeanne) Gillis, Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren, Sydney, Trevor, Derrick, Natalie, Mitchell, Sabrina, Kierston, Robyn, Matthew, Melissa, Hannah, Sophie, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cole, Carly, Samuel, Ella, Grayson, Jasmine, June, Gavin, Tristan, Piercen, Kingsley, Scarlette, Conner, Atticus, Bradley, Aiden, Cohen, Beau, Isla, James, Caroline; sisters, Catherine Beaton, Northern Territory, Australia; Louise Coughlin, Mill River, PE; brother, George Beaton, Summerside, PE; nephew, Christopher; and a great-nephew, Skyler. 

Predeceased by his wife Shirley (Ivany) Beaton; sister, Norma Jean (Beaton) Robertson; stepson Blair (Vicki) Gillis, Cartwright, Labrador; and his great-grandson Dylan Gillis.

Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside. A Celebration of Sterling’s Life will be held in the summer of 2024. Interment will take place later in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside.
