Chiasson - The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital,
Summerside, on Sunday, January 1, 2012, of Gabriel Chiasson, of
Summerside, aged 88 years. Born in Lameque, NB, he was the son of the
late Jean Paul and Bernadette (Haché) Chiasson. Gabriel
graduated Mt. Allison University (B. Mus.'50) and taught music in the
public school system for 30 years, acting as Music Director for
several musicals at SHS. He also taught piano to countless students,
many of whom went on to careers in music as performers and teachers in
Canada, Europe and the US. He was a PEIMEA Member (Past President),
past Organist/Choir Director at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church,
member of the Knights of Columbus, Sea Cadet Bandmaster 1953-63,
Summerside Community Concerts Association, life member of the PEI
Music Festival Association, Paul Harris Fellow - Rotary International
(50 yrs of Service) and a member of the Summerside Golf Club. Survived
by his wife Anne (Murphy) Chiasson; children Monique, Christophe
(Susan Rolph), Elaine Fraser (Victor), Annette (Jim Moltner), Paul
(Makiko), Alec; grandchildren Allison Chiasson, Audrey Chiasson; and
by brothers Rufin (Anna), Herve (Alberte) and Basile(Gisele).
Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Therese (Andre Hache), Antoni
(Albina) Jean-Baptiste, Etienne (Marie Mae), Lucie, Lucie (Alcyr
Robichaud), Adrien (Agathe) and Bernard (Alma). Cremation has taken
place. Interment will later take place in Floral Hills Memorial
Gardens, Pleasant Valley. No visiting hours or funeral service will
be held by personal request. Memorial donations to the Prince County
Hospital Foundation or the Hospice Palliative Care Association of
P.E.I. would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Moase Funeral
