Surrounded by his adoring family, son of the late Preston and Eleanor (O’Sullivan) Noonan and loving husband to Elizabeth (Mallett), passed away on May 25, 2012 as a result of a heart attack, following an excellent game of golf.  A life-long resident of Prince Edward Island, Richard is pre-deceased by his parents and brother William (Bill) and will be deeply missed by his sister Adele (Horst) in BC, by his adoring children Michael (Melanie) in Summerside, Wendy (Jim King) in Halifax and Joy (Paul Franco) in Ottawa and also by his four granddaughters Raquel, Katie Joy, Sophie and Molly Jane. 

Richard earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Dunstan’s University and his degree in Education from Saint Francis Xavier University and was a respected teacher, principal and later assistant school superintendent with the Unit #2 School Board in Prince Edward Island.  Richard will also be greatly missed by all of his friends at the Summerside Golf Club where he was a long-time member and by his cousin and dear friend Dr. Jim Noonan of Moncton.  The family wishes to express their deep thanks to the wonderful staff of sections 6.4 and 5.1 of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax and to Dr. Stewart and the surgical team for all of their valiant efforts.

Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Tuesday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday from 6-9 p.m.   In Richard’s honor, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Children’s Wish Foundation would be appreciated.
