MacFarlane – After a courageous battle with ALS, Malcolm “Mac” MacFarlane , of Stanley Bridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, on Thursday, December 10, 2009, aged 68 years. Born in Charlottetown, he was the son of the late Lorne and Pearl (Vaughan) MacFarlane. Survived by his wife of 43 years Margaret (MacDougald) MacFarlane; children, David (Liu Yan), Toronto, ON; Amy (Chris Grandy), Clyde River; Gordon (Michelle), Summerside; Grampie of Matt and Evan MacFarlane and Poppa of Jessica and Katie Grandy; sister Nancy MacFarlane, Summerside; sister-in-law Mary Jefferson, Dundas, ON; brother-in-law Sandy MacDougald (Julia Donahue), Heatherdale; special cousin Susan (Jim) Stavert, Charlottetown; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Howard and John MacFarlane; and by a brother-in-law Don Jefferson. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Tuesday, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside, for funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to East Prince Home Care or the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home would be appreciated.
